These terms govern your use of the RetroHours website, browser player, accounts, cloud storage and private playtesting services. Please read them together with our privacy policy.
About these terms
RetroHours is operated by ArcheTech Solutions 202503059311 (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using RetroHours you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Contact us at admin@retrohours.online.
Eligibility and accounts
You may play as a guest without an account. To create an account or subscribe, you must be at least 13 years old; if you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf and supervise any purchase.
You sign in through Google, Discord or Twitch and are responsible for activity under your account. Keep access to your sign-in provider secure and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused.
Your games and files
RetroHours does not supply games. You choose the game packages, saves and other files you import or upload, and you are responsible for having the right to use them. Do not import or upload files you are not entitled to use, files that contain malware, or material that is unlawful.
You keep any rights you have in your files. You allow us to store, copy, process and transmit them only as needed to provide the features you use, such as cloud sync, backups and transfers between your devices, and to keep the service secure. This permission ends when the files are deleted from our systems, subject to the retention described in the privacy policy.
Uploaded files stay private to your account and are not published in a public catalogue. We do not routinely review private files, but we may restrict or remove files that we reasonably believe break these terms or the law, or that are the subject of a valid complaint.
Private playtests
If you are invited to test a game, the test release is provided only for your personal testing on RetroHours. Do not copy, share, record for publication or redistribute a test release, or disclose non-public details about it, unless its owner has allowed that. Access can be withdrawn at any time.
By submitting a report you allow us and the relevant game’s team to use its contents, including selected screenshots and recordings, to investigate and improve the game and RetroHours. Report attachments expire 90 days after submission.
Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to access other people’s accounts, files, test releases or reports, or bypass access controls, storage limits or payment checks.
- Do not disrupt, overload, scrape or probe the service in a way that harms its operation or other users.
- Do not use RetroHours to store or distribute material that infringes others’ rights, or that is unlawful, harmful or abusive.
- Do not resell or provide RetroHours to others as a service without our written permission.
Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights. Our designated agent for copyright notices is ArcheTech Solutions, reachable at admin@retrohours.online. If you own the copyright in a work, or act for the owner, and believe material available through RetroHours infringes it, send the designated agent a notice that includes:
- your name, address, telephone number and email address, and, if you act for the owner, your authority to do so;
- identification of the copyright work and of the material you believe infringes it, with enough detail for us to locate it;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
Within 48 hours of receiving a complete notice, we remove or disable access to the identified material. We then tell the user who provided it and send them a copy of the notice.
If you provided the material and believe it was removed by mistake or that you are entitled to use it, you may send the designated agent a counter-notice. It must include identification of the material and where it appeared, a statement that you believe in good faith that it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your name, address, telephone number and email address, and your physical or electronic signature. We forward the counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us that they have started court proceedings about the material, we restore it no sooner than 10 business days after receiving the counter-notice.
Knowingly making a false statement in a notice or counter-notice can be an offence and can make the sender liable for resulting loss. We close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe others’ rights.
Subscriptions and payment
Cloud costs USD1.99 per month and Supporter costs USD4.99 per month, including applicable taxes. Cloud includes 1 GB for games and Supporter includes 5 GB for games. Both have a separate 100 MB cloud-save allowance, automatic ordinary-save and supported-preference synchronization, recovery history and Spectator mode. Supporter adds voluntary financial support and voting in administrator-created game-focus polls. Free permits one personal game installed locally; paid shelves have no game-count limit. Every tier requires approval of the exact game contents before personal play. During paid access, imported games and existing account and guest shelf games are backed up automatically. Game and save allowances are separate. Cloud game archives are available for download for 30 days after paid access ends, then become eligible for deletion. Save usage includes pending uploads, retained history and objects awaiting physical deletion. Stripe processes payments. Checkout shows the total and any tax collected. Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled.
Both paid plans include early access to exact approved game contents before their Free release. Release stages are controlled manually: administrator testing, assigned private Playtest, Paid early access, then Free release. During early access, new personal launches require an active verified Cloud or Supporter paid period, including offline launches. No games or game files are supplied by a personal subscription. Private Playtest access remains governed by assignments.
You can cancel at any time in the app’s Account controls. Cancellation removes any scheduled tier change. Tier changes take effect at the next renewal without proration. The billing portal manages payment methods and invoices. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep cloud features until then. After paid access ends, cloud content is available for downloads and exports only for 30 days, followed by automatic cleanup. Restore, synchronization and personal paid features are unavailable during that window; exported archives can be imported manually for local use. Games released to everyone remain playable. New Paid early-access launches wait for renewal or Free release; a running game can stop and save normally. Installed files, local saves and exports remain available. In-app notices show the exact expiry date at the start and the seven-day and one-day thresholds. Cleanup can wait for payment reconciliation or storage recovery. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments for a period already started are not refunded. Nothing in these terms limits refund or other rights you have under consumer protection law.
Approval identifies all normalized extracted game files by their paths, sizes and checksums. Repacking identical files does not change the identity; changing any file requires a separate approval. A browser that has verified approval can play offline; revocation applies at its next successful online check and does not stop an active session. Private playtest access remains governed by assignments.
Ordinary saves synchronize automatically during paid access. Cloud history keeps the current save and up to three completed prior versions, plus unresolved conflicts, within the save allowance. A full refund or unresolved/lost payment dispute revokes the affected invoice’s access; partial refunds preserve paid time and a successful dispute reversal restores verified access. These events do not immediately delete storage.
Each open game-focus poll allows one changeable vote per account with a verified active Supporter paid period. Cancellation preserves voting until that period ends. Recorded votes remain after paid access ends; rejoining does not create an extra vote. Rankings and totals are public, while individual voters are not disclosed. Polls guide feasible development choices and do not guarantee game support, an outcome or a delivery date. Spectators run locally in your browser and are not an external AI service. Private playtests retain Spectator mode independently of personal plans.
Stripe emails a receipt for each payment. If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first so we can resolve it; this does not affect your right to dispute a charge with your card issuer.
We may change the price or plan features for future periods. We will tell you before a price change applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
Independence and trademarks
RetroHours is an independently developed player. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YoYo Games Ltd. or the owners of GameMaker, or by any game publisher or developer, unless we say so expressly. Game titles, characters and other trademarks belong to their respective owners and are referred to only to identify them.
The RetroHours name, logo, interface and software belong to us or our licensors. Open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the third-party notices. Apart from those licences, these terms do not grant you rights to the RetroHours software beyond using the service.
Availability and your data
We work to keep RetroHours available but do not promise uninterrupted service, compatibility with every game or browser, or that a game will run correctly. We may change, add or remove features. Some changes may be needed for security, legal or technical reasons.
Local games and saves live in your browser and can be lost if browser data is cleared or a device fails. Cloud sync keeps a limited number of save versions. Keep your own backups of files you value.
Disclaimers and liability
To the extent the law allows, RetroHours is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind beyond those the law implies and does not let us exclude.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, saves or game progress that you could have avoided by keeping backups. Our total liability arising from the service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and US$10.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including rights you have as a consumer.
Suspension and closing an account
You can stop using RetroHours at any time and request account deletion in Account settings. We may suspend or close an account, or remove access to files or test releases, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or to protect users or the service. Where reasonable, we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to download your files.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Courts there have jurisdiction over disputes, without removing any right you have to bring proceedings where you live under mandatory consumer law. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern informally.
We may update these terms and will revise the date above. Where a change materially affects you, we will give notice before it takes effect. If you continue to use RetroHours after that, the updated terms apply.
