How can we help?
Quick answers about adding games, controls and saves.
Getting started
How do I add a game?
Go to Add game and choose a ZIP of a game you own. RetroHours checks it and copies it into this browser.
Why can’t my game start?
A game can start once we’ve approved it. Until then it stays on your shelf, and its page shows where it stands.
Which browsers work?
A modern browser with WebAssembly, WebGL graphics and site storage. Check this browser on Home to see what it supports.
Controls
Keyboard
Click the game screen so it gets your keys. Press Tab to move back to the player buttons. Change which key does what on the Controls page.
Controller
Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and most other controllers work. Press any button once so the browser can see it. Games with controller support read it directly; for other games, set it to send Keys on the Controls page.
Phones and tablets
An on-screen pad appears under the game, and over it in fullscreen. Change its size, buttons and vibration on the Controls page.
Fullscreen
Use Fullscreen under the game screen. Press Esc or the exit button to leave it.
Saves and backups
Where are my saves?
In this browser, on this device. Clearing site data for RetroHours deletes them, so keep a backup.
How do I back up?
RetroHours backs up saved files automatically. Open Saves to download a backup, or import a backup ZIP and restore it from the list.
What if I remove a game?
Its saves and backups stay. Add the same ZIP again to use them.
The last session didn’t close properly
Open Saves for that game. You can keep the latest save files, or go back to an earlier backup.
Something not working?
Check this browser on Home for storage, graphics and sound.
